Welcome to the dakini Tigers Campaign Crowdfunding Page

Unless laws and attitudes
change - and fast - Tigers are in serious danger of becoming extinct. By
celebrating the beauty of wild tigers and raising awareness of the dangers that
threaten their survival, the dakini Tigers Campaign seeks to make people the
world over understand how crucial and urgent this issue is. By growing the
campaign to include thousands - perhaps millions - of voices worldwide, and ensuring
that the campaign’s message is projected through major newspapers in multiple
countries, we will turn this pressure on the politicians who are in a position
to act. By making it clear to these key decision-makers that the people and the
media are crying out for them to make laws and policies that can protect
tigers, we may just succeed, together, in saving tigers from extinction.
To give it the most
fighting chance, the campaign must do all these things by the time of the Heads
of State Tiger Summit in September, when representatives from all tiger-range
countries will come together to discuss what needs to be done to secure the
future of tigers. This is the first Summit of its kind and it is essential that
the delegates know that the eyes of the world are watching them, and expect
them to not just talk, but to act.
For the campaign to work, it must have enough members to
convince the delegates that the world is truly concerned about tigers. It will
not be enough for one small organisation to make a stand. We need a crowd.
If enough of you get
involved with the campaign, we will be able to send to every delegate a breathtakingly gorgeous
book showcasing just how awe-inspiring wild tigers are.
In the book will be a list of every person and organisation who has worked
together to achieve this. It will be a visual petition, but one that is far too
precious to simply ignore. Meanwhile, we will take the book’s content to major
newspapers and magazines all over the world and allow them reprint its content
for free as a way of propelling the issues, the book, the campaign, and the
amazing work of the charities we are working with into the public eye.
You can become part of the
campaign in one of several ways:
2 You can make a donation of $25 or more, which will allow us to include your name in the book,
and send you a PDF/e-book version of this.
3 You can pre-order your own copy of the hardback book for $45 (£29)*, which will make the
campaign possible, and will also include a 30% donation directly to our tiger
charity partners. Your name will also be in the book, and you will have this
beautiful record of the part you played in the campaign to keep forever. Just make
a donation of the amount or more and remember to include your address and P&P for
postage*.
4 Spreading the word. Tell your friends, your family, your
colleagues - anyone you think would like to help with the project. If your
employer offers matched funding, please make sure they know about your
donation!
Together, we need to raise $100,000 – the equivalent of 3000
pre-orders – to make this project possible.
About the Book
We are working with
award-winning photographers from John Downer Productions, internationally
acclaimed wildlife writer Carol Kaufmann and an expert team of advisors from
all over the world to produce Tigers, a beautiful book following the real-life
struggles of a lone tigress, rearing her cubs in the wild. The book is to be a
large-size, hardback, photo-led, gorgeously-written and designed work of art,
to truly show off the beauty of tigers in the wild.
30% of all funds raised will go directly to carefully-selected tiger charities, to double the number of tigers in the wild by 2022.
The rest of the money will pay for the book to be made and the campaign to be
run - because we cannot save tigers without raising awareness and changing
people's perceptions.
